Phoenix book-lovers have the chance to meet 33 local authors, from
award winners to debut authors, at the Summer Author Event
August 5, 2014 – PHOENIX – Phoenix book lovers are in for a treat as 33 local authors come together for a book signing/meet-and-greet event on August 16th at the Phoenix Center for the Arts. This is the perfect chance to chat with local authors, writers, and literary types as they sell and sign their books at this first-of-its-kind Phoenix event.
“One of the things that seemed lacking for most authors I’ve met recently is a way to connect directly with readers. Rather than schedule a series of book signings where each author tries to find readers, I was inspired to unite a group of authors and bring the readers to them,” says Laura Orsini, creator and host of the Summer Author Event (http://summerauthorevent.com) and organizer of the Publishing and Book Promotion Meetup (http://www.meetup.com/E-Publishing-and-Online-Book-Promotion).
Though the event is taking place in Phoenix, the participating authors are from all parts of the Valley, New River to Queen Creek. One author is even coming down from Prescott Valley to take part in the event.
Attendance is free and the event is open to the public, but people are encouraged to pre-register: http://bit.ly/summerauthorevent. Connie Kadansky, an international sales coach and trainer who lives in Phoenix, reserved her spot early, explaining, “I am looking forward to an exhilarating day where I can meet and support local authors who are making a BIG difference in their particular area of passion.”
With genres from thriller to paranormal romance to children’s books to business to spirituality to personal development, there will be something for almost every taste. Participating authors range from award-winning writers with multiple titles to their credit to new authors who are debuting their books at this event.
Matthew Cerra, a Gilbert Resident and participating author who is debuting his novel, Empires Awakening, describes his own reasons for taking part in the Summer Author Event: “I am looking forward to meeting the other authors and seeing the range of work being created by Arizona writers. Each is unique, and their approach to storytelling is a fascinating look inside the mind of another human being.”
Each attendee will have the chance to win book giveaways, taking place on the half-hour throughout the event. Winners need not be present to win, provided they complete their tickets legibly.
Volunteers from Foothills Community Services (https://www.facebook.com/TheBridgeFoundationAZ), a 501(c)3 nonprofit that provides food to the homeless in Downtown Phoenix, will be on hand to sell water and snacks and raise awareness for their important cause.
Hours for the event are 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Location: Phoenix Center for the Arts. 1202 N. 3rd Street, Phoenix 85004
A follow-up event, the Holiday Author Event, is in the works for November.
